Trying to find out a little info on the Traynor Voicemate Reverb YVM-3 S heads that come up fairly frequently on Reverb etc and guess there's a few knowledgeable Traynor fans on here.

Not much online about them beyond seller descriptions, what I'm curious about:

1. Are the inputs on these Line or Instrument level? As a PA Mixer I'm assuming Line but have been told you can jack a guitar or bass straight in with no issues or need for an external pre-amp to push them

2. Do they break-up at any point as you crank them or are they stubbornly clean potential pedal-platform type things?

I only know of this Traynor model history thing, which says:

I play grunge and its perfect for it. [...] When I play clean it sounds perfect. There is no distortion on it. I have to use a MT-2 or a zoom pedal.

I played a guitar through one at a friends practice space. It was very clean and was nothing special.

I've never seen one of these. Initially I thought it was an outboard reverb, but I guess it's more like a straight up PA head?

It's a 4 channel PA with reverb. I've got a nearly identical Univox that I found in the trash 20 years ago and use for vocals at band practice and another nearly identical Peavey that I chopped out of one of those PA 100 Mixer Amps. Basic solid state PA with spring reverb, probably what like 50 watts? I bet it's a total workhorse and will probably last forever. I use my Peavey guy for keyboards and as a second little bass head. You could use them for anything though; mics, guitar/bass, synth, whatever you please. My Peavey actually does get weirdly dirty in the very last few millimeters of cranking the volume knob. Not sure if the Traynor would too, but it's best to assume it's just a clean, flat, solid state PA. Nothing fancy or "special", but if you need to amplify a signal or four, and potentially add reverb, it will do the job.

But $250 is a ridiculous price. You're basically just paying for the word 'Traynor'.

These things were like $25 all day long for years, even when more people hipped to traynor. Not to be confused with the tube ones that you can push good and are most likely modded for guitar already.
