Where Did You "Fall Off" of Tarantino?

Core question: What was the movie he did that made you go "meh"?

Was it right away? Were you never wowed?

Was it after a few indisputably great flicks and then he dropped a clunker?

Is he still the GOAT in your eyes?

Did he have a slump and pick himself back up?

For me, I stopped being excited after KB2. I think that was the first movie where I got to the climax and shouted at the screen, "Get on with it!" (Then his Death Proof segment, if we're counting outside of stand-alone feature lengths, in Grindhouse was embarrassingly dull compared to the Planet Terror segment.)

Basterds was a tiny comeback but Django and Eight were another slump for me. ... Hollywood could have been great, like great great if he cut that fucking run time down. As is, it was good but I'll probably never watch it again.

There's never been a Tarantino movie that's been anything greater than bang average.

Edit to vote: Reservoir Dogs. Shit then, shit now.

I was never a hardcore fan but those early movies were "fun". Then I saw Jackie Brown in the theater and nearly fell asleep..

Inglourious Basterds was the first one I didn't like immediately. Upon viewing a few years later I've come around on that one. I still don't love anything from that point on. I enjoy them, but nothing after that one is anything special.

Having said that, Django Unchained is the only one in the list I actively don't like. And personally, I think Death Proof is underrated.

Jackie Brown might be my favorite of the lot.

I enjoy all of his movies to varying degrees. Jackie Brown is incredible, but I had to grow up a bit to appreciate it fully. Hollywood is flawless. Masterful. One of my favorite movies.

I've never considered him the GOAT, not even close, but he is good at what he does mostly.

Have not seen Death Proof, though. Need to see it.

I'll be seeing Jackie Brown again soon. That one kind of bored me when it came out so I am curious how I respond to it now.

Jackie Brown has Pam Grier and Robert Forster to elevate it some. Without them I can't stand the rest of the movie.

Made the decision to never watch another one of his flicks after Kill Bill/Death Proof. With every clip I have run across from the rest of his catalog I know I made the correct call.

He's "arthouse" for people who like action films. Everything up to Jackie Brown was decent (JB is really entertaining; he didn't write the story, funnily enough). Disappeared up his own B-Movie asshole after that.
