Re: Artist / band: Danielle Dax / Lemon Kittens
2Thanks for posting this. I was likewise unfamiliar with her music but that Cake EP is cool with a choppy, textural feel that kinda rides a line between structure and noise. I recently revisited PiL Flowers of Romance, and this seems like a kindred spirit.
Her 1980s stuff on Spotify seems to have gone in a more synth pop direction?

3Pop Eyes is my favorite record.
Everything up to and including the Dark Adapted Eye comp is great.
Blast the Human Flower was a more commercial sound. Not without its charms but not stellar.
I think the only new music she's done since was the Timber Tongue EP which came out.....mid 90's? Four bizarre instrumentals. I like it.
Lemon Kittens are good too but I loaned my CDs away years ago and now they're expensive as fuck.

4Never listened to Lemon Kittens, but Danielle Dax is just ducky. As mentioned, everything from Pop-Eyes to Inky Bloaters is super.
"Daisy" from Blast The Human Flower is a nice song.
Like Kate Bush we need the music of Danielle Dax to resurface. Anne Clark as well.

5Not a big fan and have not heard her work enough to vote, but I recall that I found the Lemon Kittens album We Buy a Hammer for Daddy so pretentious that it bordered on novelty music - saturated in that super-lame avant-garde hahaha vibe that is present on the worst Nurse With Wound records.
The solo record Jesus Egg That Wept was better but still a bit to caberet-esque (ala Gavin Friday's solo stuff) for me to dig further.
