You do not know any of these young bands.
Perhaps you will like one of these young bands.
Perhaps you will post your nice comments about these young bands.
Perhaps you will recommend another young band.
Except your own young band.

goiter (currently unsigned/unrecorded in a major sense, but plays at nevin's in evanston on occasion.) i was not coerced into being complimentary.

crushkilldestroy (signed to makoto records, but may not even be around anymore. i love them, though.) the main guy uses a travis bean, which makes the band even better.

bear claw ("signed" to ear flaw records) i used to be friends with the guys in this band, and even though i don't know them anymore, they [should be] famously great. maybe one day they will be. they're really original and great. and no offense to scott picco or anything, but i prefer them over the goddamn jets (he plays drums for both of these bands).

most of the other bands i like have been around for some time.

regards,
jet.

Jet,

Thank you for the post about Bear Claw (http://www.goddamnjets.com/Bear_Claw_we ... w_main.htm). They are a fine band and I should have included them on my original list. They will play a rock show on November 28 at The Wheaton Grand Theater, 123 North Hale Street Wheaton, IL (www.wheatongrand.org). If this post prompts even one non-yahoo to attend this show, I will consider my time to have been well spent.

In the meantime, more young bands, people! Who are the young bands that you admire?

Speak, fuckers!

the paul green school of rock (from philadelphia).

still learning more about them myself, but i just saw them on back to back nights playing the music of frank zappa. they were opening for project object, a zappa/mothers of invention alumni band. these kids played zappa compositions with stunning technique and accuracy. some of the kids are smaller than the guitars on which they shred. the youngest was 12, the oldest was maybe 17, tops.

jet-

LIAM (who posts here ocassionally) and I played some shows with crush kill destroy in our former band. great kids. i had a nice converstaion with him about his TB in a basement in columbus, OH.

i suggest call me lightning http://www.callmelightning.com/ from milwaukee. they are fantastic. their drummer shane does double duty and also plays from haymarket riot, who were just in at electrical. good stuff. great kids.

the bitter tears 7" is also awesome. i don;t know if they have anything online or anything, but they're awesome cuz they just don't seem to give a shit and it's just great, fun music. a real pleasure to listen to - also great guys. greg probably has more info on them.

also, a developing young band i'd like to keep an eye for the future is may or may not. http://www.sleevestar.com/momn/ they're still in real early stages, but i know a couple guys in there who have a whole lot of talent - we'll see how it comes with time as they find their voice.

i also enjoy the phenoms http://www.thephenoms.com - a very fun group of boys.

hello, nick of 26 september 1975,

you are the nick i met a couple weeks ago, right? i haven't seen any other nicks on here. anyway, i can't even remember how long it's been since i saw that band. i talked to the main kid, he told me about how his mum loaned him the money for his bean. i tried to convince him that he should record at electrical, but he used the usual excuse of "oh, it's a lot of money, though..." [just as a note here, in case some of you people are timidly reading this from the darkened safety of your bedroom, electrical is not expensive. electrical is a fucking bargain, and is worth your money, stop being such wimpy-ass pussies and just fucking go there, give john the money and then record. you'll be so happy that you'll say you were never happier. call them. DO IT NOW.] anyway, i did what i could, but i tend to get waved off at first by a lot by guys in bands, for obvious reasons. nothing makes me more unhappy, but such is life. i bought their second record, i think it's called "muchactionwalkingdistance" or something to that end, and i absolutely love it. have you heard anything about them recently? i'd give anything to see that band again.

regards,
jet.

I went to high school with Scott Picco. He's a very cool character, but it seems like he's in a different band every year. I think he was in a band called Hello Operator, but I don't know if they're still together (probably not, two bands considered).

Has anyone ever heard of The Diggs? My band played a show at Omalley's in '02 and their singer gave me a demo that has rocked the walls of our lil' studio on many an evening. They must've changed their band name because I cannot seem to locate them now.
be good or be good at it....
