Saw it yesterday. Terrible.

Arcade Fire, or at least Win Butler, is also done, or should be:

Arcade Fire’s Win Butler Accused of Sexual Misconduct by Multiple Women; Frontman Responds
Pitchfork wrote:Butler offered to put Pitchfork in contact with different women who had consensual sexual experiences with him in the past.
Why? Why do people do this? What do they think it'll accomplish? "Because he had consensual sex with other women, there is no possible way he could have raped anyone else"? Fucking gross.

Depressing news for both bands, and fans of both. Grateful that I got to see Neurosis live in 2015, I knew none of their songs, and kind of checked them out on a whim. They really impressed me, I loved the quiet/loud dynamics the songs had.

As for Arcade Fire, I know they're not popular around here, but I'm a fan and have seen them live multiple times, though their more recent albums have left me cold. At least I can listen to their music on my iPod guilt-free.
"Whatever happened to that album?"
"I broke it, remember? I threw it against the wall and it like, shattered."

Fucked up, but did the rest of the band necessarily announce a break up?

Also I wouldn't conflate it with Win Butler, who just sounds like a typical gross musician dude exploiting the groupie lifestyle. *Kelly seems like he's taking the steps to try and make things right, if that's possible (not necessarily defending him).

*edit: I'm embarrassed I gave him any benefit of the doubt after reading the band's statement. Fuck that guy 100%, he should probably be doing time.

Indeed. If anything, Scott Kelly sounds like a worse-than-typical perpetrator of spousal and child abuse, systematically and over time.
Scott Kelly, co-founding member and singer of the California metal band Neurosis, has admitted to engaging in “emotional, financial, verbal and physical abuse” of his wife and children.

"When I became paranoid that people were going to find out [about the abuse], I found ways to keep my wife and kids from work and school and created divisions with friends and family members. I became obsessed with control and used threats, manipulation, threats of self-harm and suicide, inflicted physical damage on people and their reputations all to keep that control."
I suppose it's a good sign that his apology sounds sincere.

*waves*

I didn't intend to sound overly harsh above, but the outpouring of sympathy for Scott Kelly that I've seen in the past day and a half has been vast. Of course no one likes to learn this kind of thing about a person they looked up to, or whose art they admired, or both. And I too hope Scott Kelly will be OK, someday, somehow, and I respect that he didn't mince words in his statement.

Still I feel that, almost by definition, his wife and children are unlikely to be entirely OK, and I very much hope that their present and future well-being are at the top of someone's agenda, somewhere, since none of them have a large fanbase ready to support them at a moment's notice no matter what they admit to having done.
