He's playing in LA soon and I'm going. Anyone seen him? I guess Primavera Sound allows for one-offs in the same city as the festival, cuz Stereolab is playing a lone show as well.
Anyway, yeah, Tim Hecker. I like him.
Re: Noisey Guy: Tim Hecker
2His music doesn't do much for me. I saw him at Pitchfork fest one year and it was raining while he performed, which kind of enhanced the music a bit more I thought.
"Whatever happened to that album?"
"I broke it, remember? I threw it against the wall and it like, shattered."

3I’ve been listening to harmony in ultraviolet again after a decade or so and it’s still brilliant.
He’s discovered a new way of doing his thing in recent years which feels more angular. I appreciate him for not adhering to what is now I guess a complete barrage of boring ambient (I’m guilty of contributing).
Gets a lifetime pass for rave death and harmony.

4Yep. Radio Amor floating right beneath those two.
Haven’t seen him. Seeing legendary ambient artists like this requires some special venue, like a church or dodecahedron or something.

5Not Crap, because the peaks are high. A lot of it is pretty nondescript though.

6He appears to enjoy playing in churches, and the venue I'll be seeing him in was a synagogue and is now some nondenominational church.brephophagist wrote: Sat Sep 10, 2022 1:20 amYep. Radio Amor floating right beneath those two.

I really enjoy Haunt Me, Radio Amor, Ravedeath, An Imaginary Country, Harmony in Ultraviolet, Virgins, and I think My Love is Rotten to the Core is rather good as well. The latter has its dull moments but it opens ands finishes strong.

7The other time I saw him live was in Houston at the Day For Night festival. The main venue was a former post office. He played a 'blackout set', which was just him on stage, barely moving, with no light on him. I thought it was boring.enframed wrote: Sat Sep 10, 2022 10:51 amHe appears to enjoy playing in churches, and the venue I'll be seeing him in was a synagogue and is now some nondenominational church.brephophagist wrote: Sat Sep 10, 2022 1:20 amYep. 8Yeah I am going in with low expectations regarding visual entertainment. I assume he'll "play" like a typical laptop guy from the 90s, which was never very good in a live setting. I plan on closing my eyes and just hear and feel the music.zircona1 wrote: Sat Sep 10, 2022 12:06 pmThe other time I saw him live was in Houston at the Day For Night festival. 9I don’t remember if I’ve mentioned this before: Ambient Church puts on some good shows that usually incorporate a visual projection element with no screens - just projecting onto the space.
