I have this wretched yamaha pacifica thats been thoroughly, thoroughly raped by two years of Louie Louie & Sex Bomb.
basically i need something that'll last me a few good years & still sound acceptable, with a little distortion but not much. ill be playing in a 'noise' orientated rock and roll band, but i mostly like to finger pick around rather than make awful noises.
i don't know much about kit, i'm not the kind of dude who plays voodoo chile in the guitar shop every friday, so suggest away.
Recommend me a decent guitar for 250-500 quid. Cheers.

A Pacifica is probably the best guitar in that price range.
Either fix yours or buy another.

I would recommend a Teisco. They are Japanese and supposedly were the best-selling guitars in the 1960s, for better or worse. There's a website about them, and you can look at it by clicking
here.

Hmmm.
I dunno; guitars are such personal things.
If you like strats or teles then you could get a Mexican one, but the stock pick-ups are shite, so you might want to switch 'em.
Epiphones are horrible; stear clear.
If I was buying a cheap to mid-priced guitar I'd probably buy a Yamaha. I have an AES 800 that's lovely and came with DiMarzio pickups as stock. They don't make 800s anymore, but they do make similar.
Otherwise I'd say buy another Pacifica; maybe a better model?
There's so much crap around in that price bracket.
Have you thought about a Gordon Smith? Great Uk built guitars if you can live with the styling.

Dude, if you have 500 squids, then you should be able to buy whatever the fuck you want. Squid ink and it's meat go for some money over in Asia. But the real questions are, how the fuck did you get 500 squids and are they fresh?

I bought 10 fresh squid only 2 weeks ago for under a fiver. No way are you going to get a decent guitar for 500.

No.
Not that kind.
The kind that you might use for Thai salt and pepper squid, which is what I did.
Sorry.
