A damn hot dog on a stick, dipped in batter and deep fried. A gourmands delight. Pure Luxury. Not Crap

Wow, it's been a long time since I've had one.

I'm leaning "NOT CRAP", but my instinct leads me to eating the outer shell separately from the hot dog. It's possible that I subliminally am telling myself that I like both things but not together.

I will say that I think "dipped in batter and deep fried" works better with a Snickers bar.

The best form of dog! Also a thing where the vegetarian version isn't a letdown. NC

Very True. I would like to see some alternate sausages experimented with. I would love to try an andouille or perhaps a bratwurst corn dog. I am surprised that Guy Fieri or someone hasn't messed with a next level corn dog. It is probably for the best though. It is perfect as is.

Not crap! I think it would be great for someone to experiment with other encased meats: bratwurst, weisswurst, bockwurst, spicy Italian, linguica, &c.

I haven't eaten one since I was a kid, and even then, I wasn't too fond of them. They might have been out of a frozen package, which may have been the problem.

Maybe someday I'll have a transcendent corndog, but this is a crap vote for now.

Not at all crap. I feel like this should almost be cross posted in the tipping the sacred cows thread.

I used to think these were gross. Still not a fan—I voted crap—but they don’t offend me like they used to.

I can imagine a good version being made.

While probably good on its own, they might not go well with the half ketchup/mustard in a tiny dipping cup that's essential to the experience for me. Similar to PB&J, I think 'fancier' ingredients may be wasted here.
