A band whose musical direction was often dictated by whoever was slinging the axe for the Ice Queen at any given time - I think the various eras of the band overlapped with their lineup changes quite neatly.
Which guitarist / era do you favour the most?
In a previous life, I would have answered McGeogh in a heartbeat, but sonically McKay is an insanely effective player (esp on Join Hands) and Carruthers does a really sophisticated and ornate job on Tinderbox. Even Smith plays amazingly on the Nocturne live album (post-punk's Speak of the Devil, IMO), so it's not an easy choice for me.

3McGeoch is one of my favorite guitarists of any band. Full stop. Juju is a masterpiece of interesting guitar playing..

6This guy gets it.
Related: I once saw Tar, Shonen Knife, and Honcho Overload and could have sworn that Tar ripped through an incredibly heavy version of "Monitor." Like, it's seared into my memory cells. I've asked former FM cesb and he denies it. Could be that I just really wanted this to happen in the worst of possible ways, or maybe it was Honcho Overload. The mind forever reels - my stars.
Justice for Qaadir and Nazir Lewis, Emily Pike, Sam Nordquist, Randall Adjessom, Javion Magee, Destinii Hope, Kelaia Turner, Dexter Wade and Nakari Campbell

7As far as Touch and Go bands: you could argue GVSB got their entire sound from that song.rsmurphy wrote: Mon Feb 06, 2023 11:33 am Related: I once saw Tar, Shonen Knife, and Honcho Overload and could have sworn that Tar ripped through an incredibly heavy version of "Monitor."
