Just asking questions.

Tried both bands and never dig'em.
Therefore won't vote.

I like Brainiac, but 6FS was much more creative, weird and intense.

Love both but Brainiac broke my brain in a specific manner, so them.

Could never really get into SFS - Chrome worship w/ a slightly smarmy, smarty-pants vibe. Not for me.

There's a manic, off-the-rails energy on Bonsai Superstar and Hissing Prigs... that I find very charming w/ some very strong, memorable songs.

Brainiac for me.

I only really know Sever Exposure, which is great, but Brainiac all the fuckin' way.

I'm going to have to go with 6FS.
2009, when anchor brain but out a new album and you had hope they would put out more oh those where good days.

Oh and Eric Paul is Christ by the way.

Brainiac have always been "fine" to me, but comparing their discography to that 6FS run of Severe Exposure/Paranormalized/Law of Ruins, it's not even close. Those records don't sound like much else (other than some of the Chrome records, as mentioned earlier.) 6FS did make the mistake of making records after John MacLean left, so point against them for that I suppose?

Caveat that I never saw either live, but from the footage I've seen, Brainiac tended to bring more of a "manic kid version of GvsB" (attractive dudes playing noisy music) where 6FS really just looked like they wanted to punish the audience for being there. I think I'll take the contempt over the "thrift-store model" vibe.

I adore Brainiac, I feel like they were just getting started and never had the chance to fully coalesce. Not counting the new stuff

Six Finger Satellite was sinister and fully locked in on from Severe Exposure through Law of Ruins. The tension they created was incredible. Loved them live. Saw them open for Cows and The Jesus Lizard at 1st avenue. What a dream lineup.

Still waiting for straight house heat from John MacLean. I'm curious about everything he's done post-6FS, and I haven't heard all of it, but his tracks and mixes have never hit me in the sweet spot that house music does so well. "Can't Let Go" from Peach Melba comes pretty darned close.

The only time I saw 6FS perform was for Shellac's baseball-themed Pine Tar .406. I recall there being problems with the sound for 6FS's set which was unfortunate. Wish they were a band that I've seen multiple times like Cows, Shellac, Jesus Lizard. Love Pelletier's playing on those records and that of The Chinese Stars. Now there was a sexy band!
