Three years ago during the depths of COVID, FM “steve” was asked by an old friend, Kevin Goldstein, to create some music for his baseball themed podcast. Steve quickly wrote three songs and put together a crack team of baseball loving musicians to record the songs. Three songs were recorded in an afternoon and given to Kevin who used them for his podcast which was very short-lived as he quickly took a new job with the Minnesota Twins.
Fast forward to the year 2024 where I have decided to put out a 7” of these three songs for two reasons. First, it’s a fun three songs! Maybe Steve’s best lyrical work to date. Second, the members of the band have a mutual friend going through some tough times so all profits from this album are going directly to this person.
Chin Music is/was:
Steve Albini of Shellac, Big Black and Chin Music on Guitar and Toasting
Tim Midyett of Silkworm, Bottomless Pit, Mint Mile and Deep Tunnel Project on Bass
Matt Spiegel of Tributosaurus, Brother Brother and midday host on 670 the Score on Vocals
Andy Kosinski of Hungry Man, Sirs and Ling Ling on Drums
with a special appearance by Stephen Howard of Pinebender on the Guitar Solo for “You Break My Heart Every Year”
This 7” is currently being pressed (limited to 1000, there will be no repress) and I expect them to start shipping in about two weeks. You guys get the first shot to grab them. Steve did the art including an etching on the B side of the record. Recorded by JSP, mastered by Bob Weston.

Re: Chin Music (featuring Steve Albini, Tim Midyett, Me)
3Just purchased.
Even though this thread is only a few days old, I already sorta feel like it needs to be bumped due to recent events.

4I never listen to vinyl, but I ordered a copy anyway. It’s a good excuse to set up my turntable, and of course it is unambiguously true that this is what Steve would have wanted us to do for his friend.

5Got my copy ordered and stoked to hear it. Had a little trouble getting it to go through but perseverance pays off. If anyone else is having trouble getting it ordered, click on the second paypal link; that did the trick for me and several other folks I was talking with on facebutt.

6Thanks to everyone who bought a copy, I posted this on that day because I was told the records would be pressed, so I figured they would ship to me by end of last week. Unfortunately, the pressing plant is having issues with their 7” press and the shipment is now delayed. I hope to have more of an idea when these will ship by early next week, my guess is early June.
Thank you for your patience.

71. We sold 100 of these records yesterday alone.
2. Half the pressing is gone.
3. There will not be another pressing.
4. All money goes to a great cause (trust me).
5. It's the only chance you'll ever get to hear Steve try to play ska (Andy and I can actually do it).
