Kinda like Indie Rock Confessions in the General channel... has this ever been done? Guilty pleasures, admissions of ignorance, things you knowingly do wrong, etc.

....

I've never played thru a Boss DS-1

I just bought one earlier this year after going on a huge early Nirvana binge in the winter. I refused to pay more than $25 for one and a friend had one that needed new screws for the pedal that he sold me for $15 + shipping from Bellingham. Pretty easy to dial in Bleach-era tonez!

In my over three decades of playing music, I never tried a Tubescreamer until a couple of months ago.

Jazzmasters suck.

I've owned four of them over the years with countless mods (pickups, bridge, vibrato, bolt-on aluminum neck, etc.) and I just cannot get that guitar to work for me.

The idea that a majority of baseline JMs will need mods right off the bat to make them "usable" is so inherently bonkers to me.

I played guitar for eight years before deciding to get a tuner.

I'm a synth nut, but I don't rate the Minimoog at all.

Never owned or played through a Tubescreamer or Fender Twin.

I can't make a Jazz bass sound good, doesn't help that the neck is for tiny baby hands.

I thought the IVP I had for a while sounded terrible.

I got a bunch.

No guitar is worth more than $1000. At all.

Being in a band is only fun like 9% of the time. I have more fun playing guitar by myself than with people. I wish I could drum cause that seems like more fun.

The Guitars are too loud. The Bass is always too loud. The Drums are always always too loud. The vocals are never loud enough. You don't need more than 1 keyboard. There are more keyboards in my basement than anything else and I do not really know how to play them.

Big Muffs sound dumb. Tube Screamers sound like playing through paper towel tubes. Rats are terrible. The only distortion you need is a Tube Sound Fuzz. I own way too many dirt pedals and my board currently has 5 on it.

Fender Super Reverb is the only amp that needs to exist because the rest are worse. Bass amps over 150 watts are stupid, and a single 15" cab is perfect for bass guitar, if it isn't your band needs to calm the fuck down. I do not even own one of these amps... I have failed guitar amp.

Drummers only need 1 ride, and 1 crash. Any more and you are a asshole. Hi Hats are bullshit. I have a lot of stupid cymbals.

There is no such thing as "Good" live sound, only "Good Enough" live sound, which objectively does not sound "Good". I'm pretty cool not going to shows anymore. It rarely meets expectations, and I usually can't wait to leave.

Plug ins can now sound easily as good as any piece of analog gear. Accurately modeling of an analog sound has become arbitrary and the only reason to own analog gear is because it is still "cool" and always will be. Tape is unnecessary, expensive, and a speedbump as far as getting a good sounding recording. If you use it its because of a reason other than "It sounds better". I love tape.

Vinyl as a playback medium is objectively worse than almost any other modern method of playback, including high bitrate (256 or higher) MP3. It is just worse. Worse dynamic range, sig to noise, has terrible surface noise at it's best, mechanical noise from the player/needle, frequency bandwidth and frequency accuracy... you could go on for a very long time. It is just "worse". I love records, and it is the almost only way I ever purchase music.
