Dead Meadow ~ Voyager To Voyager

Huge surprise that they had another one in the bag before Steve's passing. Didn't hear a word about it prior... Happy/Sad to hear they're carrying on without him.

^^^ That does sound really good. In the past, I'd only heard them in passing, but now I might have to pick that up. Hmmm.

I'm not diving on the pre order from Italy just yet but can't wait to get my hands on one...

Looks like all the old stuff is being reissued in line so get in there!

I bought it, the digital, and will check out their other recordings! I vaguely remember hearing about them through the Dischord site, when Tolotta Records was a thing, and then of course there were threads here on the PRF, but oops, it took this thread to get me to properly check out their music. Not normally my thing, exactly (stoner rock? psych-metal?), but it's very well done!

dead meadow is the best american rock band of the first 25 years of the 21st century.

they cover all the bases, sometimes it’s stoner rock, but instead of trying to play in drop Z they just lay down the heaviest guitar riffs while their bass player (the other very important steve we lost in 2024) moved through the entire blues scale in the smoothest way possible. then sometimes it’s more neil young or ccr. they never really settle and their entire discography (especially the first two and feathers) are remarkable. also check out their live at Levitation album (or video) which is massive:

Do a deep dive on your blog! I fell off around Old Growth and am probably missing some good ones.

The sample tracks are amazing. Enjoyed all the more for tiredly thinking Mark Turner = Steve Turner from Mudhoney at first, wondering when the guitar would kick in.

Lol. It's funny how things like that make for a very particular listening experience.
If you haven't heard them, check out his Octet records.
