Good morning, Boppers.
What bands might actually be improved by the replacement, or outright removal, of their vocalist?
This struck me over the weekend while watching ascendant noise act YHWH Nailgun, whom I enjoyed despite a questionable drum sound and not being as good as Gilla Band, who operate in a similar area. The one element that really rankled, though, was their frontman, locked in ersatz intense mode from the get-go. After a couple of numbers, my friend and I turned to each other and essentially muttered, put a sock in it, pal. They'd have landed harder for me as an instrumental outfit, or at least if he'd reined in the vocal tics that would shame a Bond villain. I freely admit I'm being unfair and historically a bit of a twat in this regard, as I often struggle with vocalists.
Who else spoils the party or takes from an otherwise decent band?
