Curious what active bands people have these days as New Release?: Instant Purchase level bands?
You dont need to listen to the new album on youtube to check if its any good. You just buy it, probably on vinyl, pretty much as soon an its released.
No waffles, no ifs, no buts, you have to have that goddamn thing.

I think I've pre-ordered the last three Oneida records right off the bat.
If Mick Turner made another album under just his name I'm sure I'd smash the purchase button.

Oneida is a good call.
For me, probably Tortoise. Can't think of another one.

Yo La Tengo
Bill Orcutt
I actually have a massive backlog of both of them that I haven’t had a chance to get to yet.

First band that comes to mind is the Tomeka Reid Quartet. After 2019's "Old New" I bought a bunch of her other records, but there's only been one "buy immediately" album release by that specific quartet since then, 2024's "3+3".
Only other band springing to mind is Sonic Youth, but I don't think there are any new SY albums on the horizon. Would this extend to "New release of archival ________"?

Cherubs, once I realized they've released a (then) new album 2 Ynfynyty. I was too young to get Icing or Heroin Man when they were first released, but it would've made my elementary school experience!

Aside from several PRF bands, very few, possibly none. For example, I still haven't acquired the new The Jesus Lizard or Archers of Loaf albums, two of my favorite bands. I almost always have a listen on YouTube before I buy something now.

Pile is probably about it for me right now, as far as active bands go. Ah, Pinback would probably qualify as well.
If Minutes got active again, I'd pre-order them shits before I even finished reading the social media post.
