I've been listening for a while some japanese bands that I love, like Envy, Melt Banana or Polysics, and I don't know where to look for any others like them, it's kinda difficult to search the "underground" japanese scene for me, and the bands listed above are simply fucking good.
Does anyone know some other bands like these?

The only other japanese bands i know of are Mono, Acid Mothers Temple, Boredoms, Fushitsusha, Keiji Hano, Ruins, Ghost and um well thats it. At least those are the ones i listen to, in addition to Envy. Hope that helps...

Afrirampo - I guess if Melt Banana were slower. And cuter.
Boredoms - Mere words can't explain the insanity that is this band
Mono - A mogwai rip-off, but a good one.
Shonen Knife - Sort of childlike Japanese surf rock about chocolate and bicycles.
Masonna - 2nd most extreme noise ever
Merzbow - Most extreme noise ever.
The Gerogerigegege - 80 songs in under an hour. All identical. All pretty good noise. Also sometimes screams into a mic while another dude gets sucked off by a vacuum.

Omoide Hatoba: members of other good Japanese bands, playing stuff that's really nuts. One song can be this great pop tune, the next is just a guy plugging and unplugging his amp.

Albums you will be able to find: Vuoy, Mantako, Kinsei.

Mainliner: Nanjo from High Rise's other rock band. Hypnotic thick psychedelic rock.

i mean.. there's eastern youth. and then if you want some ridiculous j-poppy stuff go with puffy amiyumi, l'arc~en~ciel, glay etc etc.. guitar wolf, denki groove, boom boom satellites..

i don't really listen to a lot of Japanese music,
but i like Guitar Wolf,
and The Pillows (they did the soundtrack for FLCL).
as well as a few bands already mentioned.
good stuff.

The Boredoms are phenominal.

I've only heard Super ae and Pop Tatari though. They are incredible enough to make the boredoms one of the best bands ever, in that conversational sense.

There's this band I saw called DMBQ. Don't know if they have recordings, or if any recordings that they have are any good, but they were pretty outstanding live.
