I really enjoyed the "TIME TO DYE" banners that the A's fans used to bring to the games. That's worth something.

And he just hit into a double play to kill a Sox scoring opportunity. I was going to go over to www.flyingsock.com to vent, but this will do.

Justin Duchsherer just plunked Joe Crede in the top of the ninth with two out and two on -- and Joe Crede was not awarded first base because home plate umpire Hunter Wendelstedt said that Crede failed to get out of the way.

Unbelievable.

That is the sixth or seventh White Sox batter hit by a pitch in this series. Pablo Ozuna is unavailable today as the result of being hit by a pitch.

Guillen and Crede have been thrown out for arguing the call. Crede was the White Sox emergency shortstop.

The result? Jermaine Dye is playing shortstop in the bottom of the ninth.

Oakland is a weird place. What a weird series.

I just watched the replay. Crede stuck his fucking arm out there to get hit. Absolutely pathetic. Great call by the umpire.

Then, knowing he had no one on the White Sox bench to replace him, he does something to get himself kicked out of the game.

Joe Crede, you let your team down, you let the buffoon known as "Hawk" Harrelson down, and you let a good man of Boise, Italia, down. I award you no points.

Jermaine Dye, he wasn't so good the last couple of years for the Oakland Athletics, but he did catch routine fly balls.

ok, that's two games in a row he has lost because of a fucking crucial error. He is hitting .171.

Am I living in an alternate universe? He belongs in double A- at best.

I might be inclined to agree with you if I saw that rule invoked with any regularity whatsoever, especially in far more obvious cases.

And I might be inclined to give the A's the slightest benefit of the doubt had they not spent the entire series/game plunking White Sox batters.

And if any other umpire than Hunter Wendelstedt, whom Guillen has accused of lying about him in reports to the MLB front office, had made that call, then I might be a bit more understanding (or at least less suspicious). Maybe Hunter thought that he was his daddy, and he was trying to preserve Don Drysdale's scoreless innings streak artifically.

And leaning into a slow breaking ball (that, mind you, was well off the plate) in the ninth inning of a tie game when you have two strikes? Absolutely pathetic? Hardly.

Okay, we can argue about observation, intent and rule interpretation all day long. So let's take a more straightforward example: What did you think of the A's turning on the lights on an overcast day at the half-inning (i.e., before the home team came to bat)?

That was dumb. He didn't get much leeway from the umpires, though. Still, dumb.

Maybe Ozzie Guillen should be less of a childish moron? Maybe the stupid, accusatory things he said about Wendelstedt came back to haunt him yesterday. There is a lesson here, that Guillen won't learn.

It tells me Crede didn't have the self-confidence to think that he could do something with the bat to actually score the runners. And this was borne out on the next pitch. Pathetic.

Apparently the pizzas provided for the White Sox in the visitor's dugout didn't have much pepperoni either.

It's an outrage.

Please. How is trading a 100% chance of getting on base for about a 20% chance of getting on base "pathetic"? That's not "self-confidence". That's "stats".

Crede's pop up does nothing to diminish the absurdity of that call. What a joke.
