Band: Corrosion of Conformity
I was just blown away. Absolutely blown away and quite surprised how great they played live – Safe to say this was one of my ‘all time favorite shows’ for sure. Went to the show last night – first off, environment was just too appropriate for a heavy metal band to perform. Machine Shop in Flint, MI - need I say more? Where heavy/hardcore metal is an institution to the people that live there. Very much hesher, burnout city - but such great energy all at the same time. It was funny in that regard. LOVED every second of it. A perfect place for a fan to watch a heavy, trashy metal band perform.
They were in their glory playing (very tight and aggressive). Corrosion had just completed a 2 ½ month tour with Motorhead. First time round I saw Corrosion play with Megadeath in 1994 – was ok. 11 years later, I can’t tell you how fast, heavy and amazing they sounded. I was just blown away. I have to say that they where actually comparable to Neurosis/Pantera/Mastodon - nature of those bands.
I know – somewhat shocking but SO true. I promise, this show was one to remember.

2Maybe I missed the boat on these guys, but they sure were bad as the opener for Clutch several years ago. I think the clincher was when the singer growled something like "this song's about smokin' hella weed" and I walked to the bar and pounded my head on it for a while.
Lots of stage energy, as you say, but still pretty boring.

3I have never actually heard them, although once this annoying kid was said "Hey guys, you know what would be a good band name, corrosion of conformity" and Me and my friends later found out he had that day bought a Corrosion of Conformity record....... he isn't a very cool person
Don't ever touch my back again.

4Eye For an Eye was one of the first hardcore albums I owned.
COC were one of the few bands that really got better after the crossover. I got to see them on them a few times around then and each show was flat out incredible. Mike Dean and Reed Mullin were perfect foils for each other. I loved Animosity, but they lost me after Dean originally left.
I'll have to check out the new one..

6i really like "animosity", but that's about it. being from an hour north of flint i can imagine that it was a fun show, though, as i used to go to the capitol theater to see bands play. people used to get mugged fairly often and sometimes there'd be mini race riots outside after the bars closed. what a shithole. don't know if it's still there, but there used to be a halo burger that had brass swastikas inlaid in the old tile floor.

8COC is a raw band. They don't go in with any fancy pyro or eye liner and wow you they just beat you in the head with good old hard rock. You can tell they genuinely like what they are doing, they obviously don't do it for the money. Plus they rip on Kid Rock a ton which was my favorite part of the show. But to be a big fan of COC you have to be able to use the words "Triple rectifier" in a sentence.

I can use that in a sentence and I've never even heard them.
If walter's parents ran they're respective goodies through a triple rectifier, then he would only be 1/3 as retarded as he is.
Better yet, eat the placenta!!!
