for this, you ideally have the pavement album "crooked rain crooked rain" (the reissue with all the bonus tracks). but slanted & enchanted might do the job.

on "haunt you down," about 2:10 in .... what's that effect?

it can also be heard on "bad version of war" on the lead. and "colorado" is nothing but that effect. "JMC retro"'s got it too.

if you only have slanted.... it's the sound on the lead of "chesley's little wrists"

so, it's some kind of auto-wah, right? but what?

It's probably a Boss TW-1, but I've been wrong before. Hell, I've been wrong many times.

yeah some sort of envelope filter with a lot of fuzz/distortion/sustain it sounds like, I have a boss ft-2 dynamic filter and i could probably get that sound with a turbo rat or something cranked to maximo distortimo...

I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same effect as Carrot Rope but with a lot of distortion?

and with a down-tuned guitar.
