Channel 101 is fantastic, probably my favorite website right now.

The Most Extraordinary Space Investigations series is probably one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life and a pinnacle of stoner humor. Plus Sarah Silverman is in it. A lot of other stuff on the site is great, too.

OK, I just finally watched all four episodes (thus far) last night.. My lexicon is going to consist mainly of quotes from these in the very near future.

Steve Porcaro of Toto: "I swear! I not even joking! I had the best time with you today, Rosanna!"

Rosanna Arquette: "Your band should write a song about me!"

Steve Porcaro of Toto: "I fuckin' swear! I will!"

Rosanna Arquette: "I'm serious! I mean, I'm really good at acting, and my chi is so balanced! And if you really want to get our root chakras aligned, you should get Michael McDonald to sing on MY SONG!"

Reading this reminds me of an old episode of SCTV that's on one of those DVD retrospectives- Rick Moranis is playing Michael McDonald, and there's a scene where he's driving really fast to get to the studio and he gets there just in time to rush into the booth add his vocals to Christopher Cross's "Ride Like The Wind."

"Such a long way to goooo..."

This will make you cry with joy if you ever get to see it.

this is totally incredible

they really go to town on michael mcdonald in that episode

i think it's the same episode, where they have the commercial for the carpet warehouse

i think i've written about this here....

the music in the carpet commercial is a totally nebulous doobie bros imitation, with the m.mcdonald voice singing largely gibberish, except for ad slogans like 'all carpets on sale' that surface every now and then

it makes me laugh until i cry every time

i think it's part of the 'gerry todd show,' which also features (same episode?) moranis' loungy singer doing his video of 'turning japanese' (pronounced 'japanees'). amazing.

We're all forgetting who did the best Michael McDonald parody of all...

Michael McDonald

What's Happening!!... -- end of Season 2. The Doobie Brothers/bootleg episode.

"I can't believe you would do this to us, Rerun."

That SCTV skit is a real chestnut ["Such a long way to gooo . . . "]. I always figured that about thirty people ever saw and appreciated it.

Guilty pleasure on a related (?) note: David Bickler, who used to sing for Survivor, has proven to be a good sport. October always means stupid beer ads, and his are some of the best. ["Real Men of Genius."]
