HUM:

Fillet Show: decent songwriting, poor recording not super-huge.
Elektra 2000: excellent songwriting, medium-well recording
You'd Prefer...: Songwriting peaks and plateaus. immaculate sounding
Downward...: more plateaus than peaks, sounds a little blown out -

There certainly isn't a band that gets ripped off more these days as far as the style and sound of popular big rock.

good songs. great guitars, but perhaps a younger friendlier cousin of TAR. singer is a featherweight stylistically but mostly appropriate and his lyrics are sound. guitars are huge. drummer cranks, not as creative as say, Bonham, but who is.

Live, this band uniquely filled each different hall with dense, loving and pummelling sound waves. Unmatched.

The Deftones suck.

Haven't had the chance to hear Fillet Show...from what I've heard, it's pretty hard hard to find.

Elektra 2000: Absolutely awesome songwriting. I think it peaks with Sundress, which is just wicked crazy; the drums are all over the place, but very tight; and we even get a good bit of screaming from Matt. Like others have said, the mix wasn't nearly as good as their following albums, but still the music holds its own.

You'd Prefer An Astronaut: The mix was great, however, the overall volume was a bit low as compared with other cds. The songwriting, though, is perhaps, some of the best ever. At the very least, it is certainly unmatched by any of today's musical standards.

Downward is Heavenward: Overall mix and sound is undoubtedly of the highest caliber. If only for songs like Why I Like The Robins and I'd Like Your Hair Long from You'd Prefer An Astronaut, I would say that Downward is Heavenward is a better album than You'd Prefer An Astronaut. Even still, I think with songs like Isle of the Cheetah, If You Are To Bloom, The Inuit Promise, and The Scientists(being my favorite), Downward is Heavenward could possibly be their best album; all of this is only my opinion though, as I know some of my friends prefer You'd Prefer An Astronaut over Downward is Heavenward.

Just my two cents worth...

Yeah, it would have been very nice if they hadn't have broken up as they did. Still, the music they put out was, in my personal opinion, some of the best I've ever heard. I'm sure some of you will agree with me and others will not, that's fine. :D But yes, I certainly agree that they should have kept on going and put out another album.

Happy New Year to you all.

Definately one of the greatest bands of my time. Very underrated. Amazing guitar sounds, w/ amazing drums, and appropriate vocals. Awesome live show. One of those bands that just lays down a lush layer of guitar sound with riffs and hooks that jut out here and there (and exactly at the right times). Great songwriting and great chemistry. Pure magic. Solid solid solid....

Not Crap!

If I could pick only one band to bring back to life...
