3They're pretty good.
I *cough*scenepoints*cough* saw their very first show, when they opened for Les Savy Fav. At that point I didn't really listen to Don Caballero much so I didn't know what to expect, but they were pretty interesting.
I have a live bootleg in mp3 form that someone hosted for a while, then took down when someone from the band told him to. It's pretty cool. I also listened to the sampler, and that guy in the background is pretty funny ("Whoo! WHOOOOOO!!!") but the music in between is pretty much just a much clearer version of what I've heard in the bootleg. It's really pretty much what you'd expect a band that has Tyondai Braxton and Ian Williams in it to sound like. It could be boring. I guess we'll see when they put out their two full lengths and an EP out in February or March.
Oh yeah, and I post on the DonFan message board as well.
Postscript: You said to describe what they sound like... well, it's a lot of loop based stuff, guitar on top of guitar on top of guitar, and some synth stuff too, Ian was playing a keyboard and tapping a guitar at the same time (Rush?) when I saw them, and that was pretty neat. Tyondai does pretty much the same thing as Ian, except that he also beatboxes, and it's not as dumb as it may seem. The other guitarist does pretty minimal metal riffing, from what I remember, but it fits in quite nicely. The drummer is great and he plays very well, the parts all fit together very well overall.
