Yes, they'll wait for his response by email.
He'll then say your lying.
They'll then send you an email.
You'll respond saying you want a refund.
They put a temporary "hold" on his account. After 30 days, they should give you your money back.

When a user signs up with PayPal, they pretty much give PayPal the right to do whatever they want with their bank account. I've heard horror stories of sellers accounts being frozen by PalPal when there's a dispute.
So, if this guy really fucked you, maybe he's gonna have a bunch of checks bounce if they freeze his account.
That'll get `em!
They feeze his Paypal account and put in a debit for the total of the sale until the dispute is resolved. If there is not enough in his Paypal account to cover the total it goes in the negative. No money is deducted from the attached account. I don't see any bank allowing them to "freeze" a checking account. Mine better not.

I would just like to add that I think that Ebay and Paypal are a bunch of thieving bastards.

It's a sevice that gives world-wide exposure for sellers/buyers. If you don't like them, don't use them.

I don't like them, but I have to use them to make money at the moment.
What I mainly don't like;
Paying Ebay ~5.25% for values less than £30
Paying Paypal ~3 - 5% in fees for receiving money
Paypal trying to rape me for something which is not my fault after I have probably paid them over $1000 in fees in the past. Customer service? No.
There is no alternative. It is a monopoly.

I don't know what to say...it is obviously worth the money if you are still using the services. If you really felt that ripped off you would find another way to make your money. Do I think they charge too much? Hell yes...but for the exposure and ease of listing I will still use them to sell things occasionally. The last item I sold was an $850 guitar and I think I paid about $30 total between the two. If you don't want to give your money to Paypal- 1. don't accept credit cards 2. do not accept transactions over $500 at a time (do not upgarde your account). The service is free this way. I have two accounts, one is a merchant account (used for high dollar items) which I have to pay on. The other is a regular account, use of it is free.

So should the lady whose account was hijacked be forced to pay? Unless the person who stole this lady's ID can be found and brought to justice, someone is going to get screwed. Personally I am more comfortable with Paypal protecting the buyer over the seller. A buyer is taking way more of a risk than a the seller. You can check people out and you do not have to say yes to the first deal that comes down the pipe. Use your head, trust no one. I know Ebay states they will only cover tangible goods through their protection, maybe Paypal has the same clause. There are three sides (at least) to every story, we are only reading one of them. Bottom line is- you have to protect yourself these days. You can't expect that your a$$ is covered 100% of the time...assume a risk.

Yeah, it's worth the cost of the services, but they are still thieving scum in my opinion.
I have to accept all sorts of Paypal payments - I sell worldwide to all-sorts. I do not want to narrow my market.
I would like two accounts.... Good idea. Is it legal? I can't imagine Paypal allowing it. Does it work ok?
