57's are kinda better suited for loud sources. Certainly no good for acoustic guitar, for instance. This is not a Scarlett issue.....I own the 2i4 and 18i20. A preamp will help, though.

The "Shonen Knife" compilation containing their first two albums is utterly essential pop music. "Pretty Little Baka Guy" is great too.

Dirt Of Luck is a great album. The singing is kind of lackadaisical, but I don't mind at all because Mary Timony has a beautiful voice which suits the singing style. I also enjoyed a solo album that my friend played for me a couple times. Don't know the name...there were medieval-y bits in the music...
