Can I recommend basschat.co.uk? Loads of nice people on there selling amps, including a GK 2000RB for about £200 at the moment. Put that with any cab = goodness.

On one of my basses I removed the volume knob and installed a 'push-to-break' switch. That does this job perfectly. But you need a free hand to use it.

The toaster pickups in the basses are exactly the same as the ones in the guitars, if that helps. Somewhere must have one in stock. If not I recently put some Kent Armstrong replicas into a bass and they sounded pretty cool. You can get them from WD music if you email them.
