It's simple:
- just a small pedal with only a footswitch
- you hold the switch on and it kills / mutes the signal
- stop holding it and the signal returns.
the idea is to use it as a fast foot-controlled tremolo of sorts. i think it could be interesting for rythmic effects.
is this feasible? bonus points if it can be done while being passive.

2um... put a normally on momentary switch in your signal path...

3or a normally off switch and then engaging it sends your signal to ground

4It can be done very easily. Passive as well. If you have any true bypass pedals kicking around than you already have one, take the battery out.

well that'll work as a mute switch, but he needs a momentary switch, not a lacthing one, so it won't really work for his idea.

7yes, so it should be a unlatching switch, right?
i was wondering about the connections inside..

8I think you'd probably want push-to-make so that you set the switch to short in order to mute. Otherwise you'll get noise if you just set it to go open circuit.
Personally, I'd just use a selector switch on the guitar if that's possible.

9Get a keyboard mute pedal (normally open) and a 1/4" Y cord and you're done.

10why not just use a 2 pick up guitar and volume kill one of the pick ups and use the toggle switch...
