Band: Scene Creamers-Weird War

Not Crap. One of my favorite active bands. I saw them on Saturday at the Empty Bottle. Ian's rants in between songs are hilarious. Example:

Ian said: "How many people live here in Chicago?"

A bunch of people started to cheer and go "WHOOOO!" swelling with home-town pride. But just as the crowd got started cheering to his question he held up his hand and interrupted:

"No no no... I mean, really, how many people live here? About 9 million?"

Michelle May is a groovy bass player and really pretty, too! The new drummer from Trans Am is a great player and that guitar player does some really cool fuzzed-out, tube-melting wah wah. I will say I like them better live than on record, just because it's so fun to see what Ian is going to do next.

Agreed John W. I saw them for the third time at the Triple Rock on Friday. I love them live. Ian's rants weren't as funny as when I saw them as Scene Creamers when they were a lot less political, and more-sex oriented (describing Scene Creamers as "the sexually transmitted band"), but still fun nonetheless.

Yeah, MM is fucking hot as shit, and Alex Minoff is a great guitar player. And whether or not you like Trans Am, Sebastian Thompson is fucking awesome. (Off subject: if anyone cares, I talked to him after the show, and Trans Am is NOT broken up, he said they're talking about a new record next year).

Musically these bands suck the shit of a dead man (brian jones?)

Uber-hipster twats.

Do you really wanna' know how i feel? I wish they would stop coming to my
town. It seems to bring out the congealed mess of fans that showed up at the make-up shows.

What about David "Fucking" Candy? We got a good chuckle out of that audio manure. Thanks Ian.
ChoCko is back in town!

As much as you hate them, I love them. I really love this band and I don't understand anyone not digging it, I really don't...
I think the whole idea of the David Candy record was to make people laugh, by the way...he gives a 5 minute recipe for pudding in the middle of it you know, I doubt it was ment as anything but a goof...and as a goof I like it...

Svenonious has come to personify everything he used to deride in Nation Of Ulysses. Svenonious is CRAP, and hasn't released a decent record in damn near 15 years. Whenever I see a bunch of fashion-obsessed Svenonious-a-bes (both male and female) strutting around at shows, I stop and think, "Wait, isn't this kind of bullshit something that punk and indie rock were supposed to be a reaction AGAINST?"

Fuck the Make-Up, fuck the Scene Creamers, fuck Weird War.
Police Teeth: we like Void so much, we decided not to sound like them.

90% of the people I see at indie shows are these 'fashion obsessed' people you speak of. Do you really think Ian is solely responsible for too small, thrift store clothes, unkempt hair, and bad teeth becoming a trend among indie kids?
