I really liked Shiner a lot back in the day... Haven't heard a note of The Life and Times, but I might check them out. I think they're touring now. Hope I didn't miss 'em...

I really like a lot of that KC stuff... Boys' Life, Season To Risk...

Also like a lot of Jawbox, Shudder to Think.

I find it interesting though... Parts of this IQ tune really remind me (a lot) of Jawbox. The only explanation is similar influences, because appearantly, other than someone having their brother inflict IQ on them, no one here has heard of the band... Really a shame since they just headlined day one of the largest art rock festival in the U.S...

The only thing I can imagine is that Jawbox are huge Genesis fans. I can believe that, though, since Burning Airlines is an Eno reference, and he worked with Genesis on The Lamb album...

Gee... I sure do miss those days when emo meant something... Now it's jerks with whiney vocals that look really neat with their cool rock star hair... I want to impale them so bad!

Hmmm... Jawbox were this band from Washington D.C. that used to make music. Didn't think this needed 'splainin' round here.

The connection is that Shiner and TLAT are on De Soto, which is run by two former members of Jawbox.

And... That IQ tune does sound like Jawbox in several parts, although it is a 12 minute song, so not all of it sounds similar... Just a few parts. Similar enough for me to dust off Novelty, and give it a listen...
