i must relate this story to y'all. Urge played a show here tues. i think about 90 people showed up. my buddy booked the show. yadda yadda yadda. Nash was totally rockin' the Tony Montana stylee. coked to the fuckin' gills, with tons of white right under his nose for emphasis. more irony from this band right? no straight old fashion coke snortin'. they fuckin' suck as expected. oh yeah, and their crap

cheers.

I watched two songs here in mpls on Friday. the show was packed, nash looked like an evil skeleton and when I saw the hired hand drummer was some white dude w/ dreads in a hawaiian shirt and shorts (shorts!) I made my escape back into the entry. I talked to some people who went to the show and general consensus was: meh

They batted .333 when I saw them during the Albini era of the 80's

"All Worked Out" (best ending ever?)is enough to salvage everything else they did

Saw them sometime in the early 90's with Nate and Ed providing a 2 guitar attack. A friend called them "Bachman Turner Overkill"

I was told they had made a name for themselves at Northwestern house parties well before the Albini boosted their profile complete with tapes. Are there any around?

I was really entertained by Urge back in the day.

One of the best shows I saw them play was the legendary Touch & Go/Jagermeister boat party at one of the New Music Seminars in the...early 90's I think.

They wore chartruse jumpsuits with cutouts over their navels. Ed and Nate played matching Dan Armstrong guitars (of which I now own the bass, or at least, that's what I was told.)

They played before the Didjits did, and lucky for them, because had they played after I wouldn't have remembered anything else.

I liked their records a lot, and was saddened by their decline in quality - like adding Chuck Treece as a guitarist (who was a great musician, but not a good fit for Urge.)

I don't think I could stomach seeing them again, because I treasure my memories of the good shows. Hell, I even treasure their hissyfit show at the QE2 in Albany back when I was a freshman.
I make music/I also make pretty pictures
