I just heard this for the first time and liked it very much. Steve- what was the session like? lots of overdubs and editing or live and straightforward? How long did they spend on it? It sounds great.

Someone once asked Stuart if it was done in one take, to which he replied:

"One take?????? Not only was it done about 10 times but its also spliced together from 3 different takes. Has that ruined the magic? Sorry if it has."

This song has some special dynamics. The differences between the opening guitar and the loudest parts are like nothing I've heard on a rock recording (I have though in "classical"music recordings). So that the loudest parts are louder the quiet parts are to be quieter? The low end is tremedous too.

It's certainly a brave departure for them in that it steals brazenly from Thin White Rope rather than the usual MBV/Slint.
