Not Beefheart's best album, but certainly a great one, and easily the best of his latter period. I'd say it's in his top three for sure.

13i like all of the capt's stuff ('Mirror Man' the most) except for 'troutmask', which to me has about 10 great songs and 18 (!) crappy ones.
