Not Beefheart's best album, but certainly a great one, and easily the best of his latter period. I'd say it's in his top three for sure.

Anyone heard any word on Don Van Vliet's health these days? I know he's not saying, but it's common knowledge he hasn't been well for some time.

Don Van Vliet has been reported to be in ill health and near death and what have you for what seems like the past 15-20 years.

I wonder how long you have to live in ill health before people decide maybe your health isn't as bad as they thought.

i like all of the capt's stuff ('Mirror Man' the most) except for 'troutmask', which to me has about 10 great songs and 18 (!) crappy ones.

This is my favorite Beefheart album because "Ashtray Heart" is my favorite Beefheart song.

Still, "favorite Beefheart album" is a hard decision to make.
