8I can recommend no cure for your insomnia. However, I will offer my thoughts to you. I've seen people suffer through insomnia, and it is an unholy curse. I have no idea who you are, but I feel compelled to tell you that I feel really bad for you. I hope that you get through it.

The masturbation/NyQuil thing has been discussed. I've found that reading for a while before you actually wanna go to bed helps. I've done my fair share of slugging it out with insomnia (i think 3 and a half days was my peak) and it fucking eats it. No caffeine, cigarettes or sugar past midday. Booze gives you lower quality sleep. "Bon jovi" or "funny" cigarettes may be different depending on yr body chemistry. Also, taking lots and lots of deep breaths will relax you a bit whilst lying there. You could also take some time out and go to a sauna/massage place (with or without release-JK Happyface) and get the shit beat out of yr tired back and muscles and then sit in a sauna for an age or two just simmering. Drink a lot of water after that though. All those toxins that a massage can release need to get flushed out.
All in all, just take it easy on yerself. Stress makes sleep harder and stressing yourself about not sleeping is just going to spiral.

Do you have the can't-get-to-sleep insomnia, or the can't-get-back-to-sleep insomnia?
I've only had the wake-up-at-4:00-AM, can't-get-back-to-sleep kind. It all seemed to have to do with my life being not quite right. I got rid of the things that were wrong, and I could sleep again.
I've had very little problem with insomnia, though, so I'm not an authority at all. But when I had it, it was awful; and getting away from the things/people that were troubling me made it go away.
Speaking of which, my coworker has been talking to a prospective online date for the last hour. Lots of details about her personal life. She does this daily. It's almost too much to take.
