it is a one-piece alder stained natural sedona and clearcoated.

i am damn impressed.

wow, cool axe!

how much did you pay for it if you don't mind me asking?

I love my TB Standard, but sometimes the stupidly hot output of the pickups can be a pain - P90s might be a good alternative...

I paid $1200

worth every penny. really.

the pickups are hotter than TB standard humbuckers and the TB500 single coils (I've done the side by side comparison). ea forum member atnight can verify this..

takes pedals well too.

i'm quite happy.

what's the weight of the guitar? lighter than a Standard?

Yeah, I think the hot factor may be because it is a new pu. Original TB's, if not rewound are 30 years old. Vintage. Even though my 1978 TB Standard humbuckers obliterate a Gibson SG humbucker of the same age, Kevin Burkett has got these new pickups CRAZY hot!

It's almost SPINAL TAP. It's like they go to 11 (but not really). But not to mislead you, they stay very clean depending on the amp.

I think it weighs a few ounces less than a Standard, maybe a pound less actually. It is also balanced a bit better than the original 500, in my opinion. Kevin's got a website with all the specs: http://www.electricalguitarcompany.com/ ... uitar.html

in my non-tech, non-scientific opinion:

TB humbuckers sound great. Warm if you want them to be. Great mids. Smaller threshold between clean KLANG and raspy distortion. Turned up, Can sound like a 2"X12" joist hitting you dead on in the face. More GRRR. I have never had much luck with pedals and TB humbuckers. They just don't need em. I plug straight in and let the amp do the overdrive.

Electrical single coils also sound great. Warm. Great defined treble and bass. Seems to be a larger gradation from "clean" to "overdriven"- Not as thick as the TB humbuckers, but akin to a 2"X4" with glass shards and nails stuck all over it hitting you in the face at louder volumes. More ping. Perhaps even a bit bassier (but not more "rockin'" or "ballsier" by any means). Takes a little more work to get the mids right than on the humbuckers.. Also sounds great with pedals.
