acoustic amplification

I think I might want to amplify. Mic's sound good, but I might be playing with drummers soon and I don't want to be stationary.

Does anybody have any ideas about what would be the best way to go.

I've got an old stella harmony, and I play really loud. If I do use an amp, I'd be playing through a bassman ten.

Did a gig last night with acoustic guitar, drums and and electric through a vibroverb, two different acoustics were used one's a takamine with a built in piezo and one's a cheap ass acoustic with a reasonably decent fishman transducer, screw in the soundhole job.. both were going into a fender delux and it sounded really nice! I think the fishman pick ups are reasonably cheap. it was starting to feedback a tiny bit in some parts but it was a really good sound, even the feedback was kind of good sounding!

Best acoustic guitar micing I ever did was using a lavalier mic that came with my Shure wireless system. It was a given to me to use for guitar (has a 1/4" plug attachment and everything) but I found that the lavalier mic that came with it was really nice for acoustic guitar, when clipped to the guitar body so it was in the middle of the soundhole under the strings.

You could even dance around like Dave Matthews with that setup! I know I did! n't.

i went to old town and i tried the fishman rare earth in my old harmony and plugged it into a fender blues amp. when the dude turned it on, it was on a distortion setting, and the sound blew me away. it sounded so good. I was sold. I'm gonna get it installed on Sunday, and I have a show tomorrow, but i think there isn't a p.a., so I think my shows are gonna have a new dynamic from now on. Thanx y'all.

i played my first show with it last saturday. It was at a small coffee house, and i got really loud it was fun. At one point one of the other dudes who was playing a set later came up and ran into me. The wire was coming right out of the sound hole and he pulled it right out. It was so funny I was just chuggin' away and you could hear the room go, awwww! He was like I'll by you a new one. I finished the song I was playing without it and then put it back in. I played 2 more songs and it was fine. I had it installed the next day. I can't wait to play more shows with it.

I guess some things never change. If your playing loud there just might be a pit. Even if you play acoustic.
