I mean, Gang of Four's vocals are delivered fairly monotone, and FF has a more melodic approach...Gang of Four's guitar lines are noisier and their bass lines are far more interesting...I really don't understand how you can say Franz Ferdinand is a Gang of Four ripoff.
Please enlighten me.

I think I gave some good arguements as to how they are very different. I agree with you 100%. Saying FF sounds like GoF a just lazy comparison.

FF is much more like Josef K. Makes sense - they're all Scottish.

Their self-titled was phenomenal. It was a record with songwriting expertise and cohesive production that came together fairly well.

You Could Have It So Much Better is a vastly inferior album but it still has its moments, and their cover of LCD Soundsystem's "All My Friends" shows they still at least know how to arrange a tune so that it's a killer.

NOT CRAP, although if their next release is garbage then that can change pretty quickly.

LIAR! I can't remember whether I gave their debut album a full listen but I'm sure there was nothing phenomenal there. A few decent things as for dance music, and tons of boredom, that's more like it.
