King Crimson question

1
I'm sure there are many King Crimson fans here. I don't, or rather didn't consider myself one, but someone gave me a copy of "Three Of A Perfect Pair" yesterday & I absolutely love it. Are there any records comparable to this one? Please take into consideration that I've heard the "necessary" albums ("Red", "Lark's Tongues...", etc.) and really can't get into them. Thanks for any help!

"Discipline" and "Beat" are the two records that immediately preceeded "Three..". I'd probably take "Discipline" over "Beat" (especially the track "Indiscipline"), but they each have their highpoints.

I think it's great someone out there prefers the early 80's Crimson. Most fans tend to prefer their mid-70's work. Me thinkst you are not one to indulge in the reefer, no? :)

My uncle has been insisting for months that I listen to King Crimson, and after seeing them mentioned on this board I finally relented and took the record off him. (I resisted cuz he listens to shit music generally)

It was In The Court Of The Crimson King and it sucked. The first song, something about a schizo or schizoid was ok, but also chessy as fuck in parts. The rest of the record was pure shite.

I never wanna hear a grown man singing about crying in the rain (or something to that effect) again for as long as I live.

Man, I love King Crimson. I've found all their various "periods" interesting, but I am particularly fond of the mid-nineties lineup. Thrak is a really cool record and B'Boom (the live album) showcases the double trio format encompassing the catalog in an interestingly aggressive manner. While I dig the seventies and eighties stuff, I like the nineties take on the earlier material with more complex instrumentation and arrangement.
