Tickets remain available for the Sept 11 Uzeda/Shellac show in Milwaukee.
Rushmor Records (414)481-6040 and Atomic Records (414) 332-3663 have them, or if you PM me, I can take care of you personally. $10 each. Rushmor is in lovely Bay View, a block from my house and I love those guys, so stop in if you're in town and see what they have to offer.
The venue is an art deco hall that was built to serve as the presentation hall for Blatz Brewery tours, and is now owned by the Milwaukee School in Engineering. WMSE, which is the prominent quality college radio station in town, is helping sponsor the show.
Blatz is as close you get to Shotz, indeed. This is living history.
Tom Stack is a subtle genius, and though he will not be selling his wonderful poster at the show I sometimes $lip him a fiver to cop a feel, and encourage you to do the same.
If Jay Tiller is in attendance (presumably he will be), and in earshot of you, he usually makes exceedingly witty observations and comments unavailble at other Shellac shows. Odds of him playing "Needlehouse" and "Pushing All the Clouds" with Uzeda again are slim, though, so don't get your hopes up.
The show is all ages, but, granted, it was once a brewery, so there's an adjacent bar to the hall, so drinking is possible. It is, after all, Milwaukee.
Acoustics are quite good if not excellent, and the setting is superb in my opinion. A very comfortable place to see what will certainly be an excellent show if you're in striking distance by car.
If you come from out of town and would like directions or restaurant or record store or cafe or good/interesting bar recommendations, or if you want to know where is that amazing discount liquor store, PM me as well. I don't check this board often, but email (and by extension PM) is my friend, and I am here to serve.
