Galanter, how are you going to make everyone boycott gas stations today? Just try.
You can do this personally if you want. And I'll agree to disagree with you on most discussions here, but the general statement is ridiculous. If the U.S. really wanted to take a stand, they'd enforce a boycott of taking Venezuelan gas. haha.. not gonna happen if Bush doesn't want to be shot by his own supporters. (That said, I'd figure Bush will try to go out and force Chavez out.)

phil,
my family actually owns a Citgo out in the suburbs. they're all franchises, like Starbucks, whose owners have little or nothing to do with gas prices, oil wars, Chavez or our monkey president's actions.
they are family businesses.
figure it out.
Nothing personal I assure you.
But Chavez doesn't get a cut?
Irrelevant. it won't harm Chavez at all. Zero, zip.
it's the same reasoning behind those people that smashed starbucks windows during the WTO conference. Basically, they just fucked some family, not the corporation or the people who take a cut from profits.
it's misguided at best.
hey! let's Boycott America by not buying ANYTHING! take that, sales tax!

24Boycotting Citgo is just my personal decision, and maybe it's something others might want to do. I have no idea what the effect of an organized boycott would be.
My real point here is that Chavez is a Castro-wannabe, and the last thing South America needs is another self-absorbed windbag dictator who loves the sound of his own voice so much that he must silence all others.

25galanter: you really don't have a point. stop pretending you do, turn fox news back on. one good thing is, regardless of whether w is live or evil, america's influence will face into oblivion in the next century.

What are you not understanding? The consequences of US foreign policy, Chavez's criticism of it, or my criticism of Galanter's blindered reflex reaction to Chavez? Do you need footnotes for the list of crimes I referenced? As a citizen, do you not feel a collateral self-loathing or at least a troubled conscience stemming from the crimes committed by those who have hijacked this country?
