1I haven't really delved into this arena much; used Limewire a bit but there's not a great deal on there (well, plenty, but not what I'm after). What's the best?

2emule can be quite good, there's quite a lot of out-of-print or -hard-to-get rock music on it, but for some reason it does recently seem to take a while.

4I can't get soulseek or emule to work on my mac - but that's probably because I'm an idiot. I've used limewire quite a bit, but mainly to download stuff like Ricky Martin and jpop.

5are we talking about hosting sites or p2p software here? soulseek is easily the best when it comes to mp3's, i used to use e-mule to download movies but now everything is on the torrent pages (you need to download one of the free torrent clients to use it - google for it<edit: or just use the link below>) which are faster.

7The two best torrent sites are Indie Torrents and Oink's Pink Palace. You'd need invites, but somebody will sort you out if you ask nicely I'm sure (I lost my Oink invites after inviting somebody from the EA forum who promtly broke the Oink rules. Twat).
Emule is also excellent for stuff you can't find anyway else, but it's slow. Hence 'mule'.

10www.dimeadozen.org is a bittorrent site that is basically like a semi-legal "tape trading" site. The moderators ban content that can be purchased, or from artists with specific cease and desist policies. I've gotten a lot of great live shows from there. It will be one of the last filesharing sites to go down, due to their ethics.
