well, this isn't an either/or thing, i only cited my PS3 example as a welcome to all opinions biased or informed...i don't feel like doing an in depth review at the moment other than the wii is not crap and i've had fun playing it...

I have an xbox 360 (not crap). I went to the game store to give the PS3 a whirl, even though there was no way i was going to buy it for $700.
Vastly disappointing. It's pretty much the same as a PS2 with better draw distance, at least as far as I could tell.

I haven't played a Wii yet but I have a feeling I'm going to get frustrated with the controllers. Still, a wary not crap for innovation.

speaking of 3s being only slightly better than 2s - has anyone played the new call of duty 3?

I've played the Wii (though not much) at a friend's place.

I'm gonna have to get a new apartment with more space just so I can get a Wii. The new gameplay is great!!!

Plus you can download old Nintendo games to play on your Wii.

The remotes can be held sideways to basically turn them into old-school Nintendo controllers.

There's a speaker in the controller (really cool when playing tennis & you can hear the whoosh of the racket right in your ear!)

All of these reasons (plus more)...Wii is not crap.

In contrast to other more gamer-oriented systems, this is more family/retardo-like-me friendly, no?

That's the beauty - it depends on the game. It's simple for someone like your parents to pick up, but then you've got a whole new approach to gamer's games like zelda and metroid.

That is, providing your parents aren't dead or anything...
