I know it's subjective but has there been a thread of the best sounding or produced or recorded or whatever albums?
Personal preferences aside that might be kind of interesting.

2yeah, i mean this is subjctive... but i'm just gunna go with what Sounds good to me, whether it's a shitty recording or not...
old swell maps sound perfect to me..
the first two suicide albums...
recordings by these guys: brian paulson, casey rice, steve albini, paul oldham, weston, george martin, david briggs, brian deck, some people i don't know, home recordings...

frank black and the catholics - live recordings, expecially the first album... dog in the sand, etc.

old neil young albums (of course)
pretty much all of loren mazzacane's recordings, including the kath bloom stuff...

red red meat's bunny gets paid
the books - lemon of pink and thought for food
shellac sounds perfect to me (rapeman too)
old guided by voices
old stooges albums (not iggy's 'raw power' mix)
early sonic youth
luc ferrari sound collages are usually the best sounding shiyt on the planet...

9Duke Ellington's "Far East Suite" sounds pretty swell to me. Also, Plush's "Fed" and "More You Becomes You" (that Steve fellow was involved in both of those, if I'm not sadly mistaken). What about "Music from Big Pink"? "There's a Riot Goin' On" has some inspiring, weirdly recorded sounds.
Oh wait, some of Al Green's records are probably my favorite sounding discs ever. "Let's Stay Together" and "I'm Still in Love With You" are likely the best sounding albums I've ever heard. Seems like there was a lot of good stuff around 1972ish.
With stellar songs and performances, it's hard to distinguish between that and the recording quality, if you know what I mean.

10Zeppelin 4 .majestic yet natural . Sonically, this album has obviously been very influential on anyone recording rock drums for the last 4 decades.
