Agreed... they had really stellar moments (Time Has Come, Are you Ready) and the sorta bridged the gap between groups like the Temptations and the Impressions.... but man, when they got it wrong, THEY GOT IT WRONG (their versions of Midnight Hour, People Get Ready... poop).

3The Ramones failed miserably trying to cover "Time Has Come Today". Even if they were a one trick pony, these bros brung it to the table.

4I have to admit that I was not aware of the Chambers Brothers up until I was introduced to Lester Chambers (and his son) by a guy I used to know through my former work circuit.
Lester did a solo rendition of "People Get Ready" during one of our events (since he happened to be in town), which, I may add, felt a bit awkward.
For what it's worth, the same guy who introduced me to him mentioned later that the recording session of a benefit song with Lester felt pretty much like a "Wake & Bake" episode.
I can't remember whether I saw Lester during the "Tell Us the Truth" tour before or after the above moment of introduction. All I do remember is that I felt Billy Bragg did more preaching than singing that night, at which point I decided to go home.

5The only song I have heard by them is "Time Has Come", but I love it. I need to hear more.
