I think they've been sketchy since (Iggy &) The Stooges broke up. Even the good solo records (The Idiot, Lust for Life, New Values) are pretty average lyrically if you focus on the words.

here comes johnny yen again
with liquor and drugs
and a flesh machine
he's gonna do another striptease
hey man, where'd you get them lotions
i been hurtin' since i bought the gimmick
with something called love
yeah somethin' called love
that's like hynotizin' chickens
well i'm just a modern guy
of course i've had it in the ear before
because i have a lust for life
i have a lust for life
i'm worth a million in prizes
with my torture film,
drive a gto, wear a uniform
a lotta government loan
i'm worth a million in prizes
i'm through with sleeping on the sidewalk
no more beating my brains
not gonna beat my brains
with liquor and drugs
with liquor and drugs
well i'm just a modern guy
of course i've had it in the ear before
because of a lust for life
i gotta lust for life

oh, and after hearing the album i kinda wish the stooges had "pulled a burma."

i.e.-reunite the lineup and re-record the songs that were never properly recorded. like the first half of on/off/on.

only i wish they had reunited w/ james williamson and finally put good production and performances on "i got nothin'," "johanna," "cock in my pocket," "head on," "i got a right," "scene of the crime," "i'm sick of you," "rubber legs," etc.

i mean, if those songs were put on one album and sounded good and not like bootlegs or demos it'd be a fucking killer album.

but alas, i'm stuck with my bootlegs and demos.

That would be really great. But, isn't or wasn't there quite a bit of animosity between the Ashetons and James Williamson, and wasn't that at least part of the reason why the Stooges broke up in the first place? And isn't that why they aren't playing anything from Raw Power on their tour?

i think they aren't playing anything from "raw power" since ron was on bass and not on guitar.

also, i've never heard of any animosity between the ashtons and williamson.
somebody help me. i can't help myself.
