...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of People Leaving the Venue Because We Suck SO Bad)
Their album from 5 years ago (Source Tags & Codes) is pretty good and I saw them play around that time with Explosion's In the Sky opening (while they were still pretty unknown) and it was an excellent show.
I went to see them a few weeks ago and it was bar none the worst show of my live, including high school assemblies.
Here's some of my thoughts on the show I wrote down when I got home to give you an idea:
-There were six people playing and two guitar techs on stage. they all sucked.
-Nobody could play worth shit.
-Two bad drummers playing the EXACT SAME THING!
-Two guys on thin sounding shit keyboards hammering away at the keys as hard as they can and you can't even hear it.
-The singer strumming furiously at his guitar while not fretting any notes. A total disgrace to any musician in the audience.
-The guitarists both switching guitars near the end of a song to play one shitty chord they could have played on the other guitar.
-Stopping the show during one of the few good songs (relative ways) because the drummer has broken his SECOND kick pedal of the night and asking the audience if anyone brought an extra one, then bragging "YES TWO PEDALS, DEAD! I bet the hi-hat stand is next!", the guitar tech then digs under the stage with a flashlight and magically finds one (I think it was all contrived, nobody breaks two bass kick pedals in 3-4 songs)
-Noise jams that were simply that and fizzle out into nothing.
-Playing bluesy beer/cock-rock type songs in the middle of atonal noise collages.
-The singer maybe hitting a single note in key the whole show and the fakest lamest scream ever, like he took vocal lessons for years to learn how to expend no energy and have zero life, and never hit a single note on a western scale.
-They couldn't even do a cliche ending to a song properly.
-It was also the worst sound of any show, no balls, just a fucking mess. I suspect the band had a lot to do with this as Lee's always has great sound.
-The stage was also quite dark so you couldn't see well, except for the guitar techs flashlights constantly flickering on and off
-The bassist poking and flicking the guitarists during the show and giggling like its grade 3
-The guitar techs girlfriend going up on stage during the middle of the song to 'hang out' etc.
I could go on. This was all within probably the first 25 minutes before I left because I thought I was going to be sick. I had nightmares that night and was depressed for a couple of days afterwards.
