2Easy NOT CRAP. Waffle Factor for his later cock-rock scores (like In the Mouth of Madness). I've been listening to Escape From New York and Assault on Precinct 13 a lot lately. I would like his score for Halloween III to be reissued.
I also think he is a fine director, for the most part.

6Crap director. Not really into his cheesey film scores, either.
He has about two or three decent movies (Big Trouble in Little China, my friends?), but nothing that would move him out of the Crap side of the fence.

7If I'm not mistaken, Alan Howarth and Carpenter collaborated on most of those scores. I think they're great scores. Even as a kid, I appreciated the minimalism. It worked to great effect. I still have the Halloween soundtrack I bought when I was ten years old.
Not Crap.

8"Assault on Precinct 13" is one of the few soundtracks I listen to semiregularly.
