Same with defecating. However, I prefer to not "perform" that act in front of people.

I guess when Einsturzende bang on metal, it's not music either?

Oh yeah, that's some fuckin' art there. Wonderful music. Amazing.

Record-scratching is percussion, basically. Percussion with sound collage thrown in.

Has anyone ever performed "Moonlight Sonata" on a snare drum alone and moved you to tears? The snare drum must not be a real instrument, then.

Thanks for the advice/warnings/insight, folks. Guess I'll take my chances & go for it. Keep an eye out in the next day or so (you're all on the edge of your seats, I'm sure). If I get "annihilated," I'm sure I will wake up the next day all better.

zom-zom, you bring up an intriguing point. I haven't come across that distinction before; seems like it's worth discussing. I'll give it some thought & get back to you. Oh, by the way, please bear in mind that I'm posting from 1979.

Chopped & screwed rekkids are ol' skool. They're past passé now. I've been experimenting with a fresher sound recently, namely that of reverbative sprunking. You ever reverberated a 45 beyond sprunk? DOUDE, that shit is BIZ-NASS. I've done this to a number of famous superreckkidhits - Al Jarreau, POD, Linkin Biscuit and Reba McEntire. My beats go BOOMCHICKCHIBOOBBOOMBOOMBOOBIEBOOMFICKIEFICKIEFIKIEBOOB!

What new and special emotions have, say, Black Flag, or Gang Of Four offered when they were around? It's the same deal. It's doing something new. To hear older music being cut up, distorted and changed is interesting. Anything can be used to make music. Ensturzende, The Residents, Alvin Lucier showed us that.
