Quantizing piano tracks on ProTools
1When I try to use input quantize or just quantize on ProTools, the result is a choppy mess with no pedal or note sustain. The quantizing works great for drum track inputs. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for the help. I went to "Preferences", then "processing" and TC/E, but that seems to be the end of the line - I didn't see any reference to instrument, vocals, percussion, etc. Is it because I'm using MIDI to power an external box (Kurzweil)?skatingbasser wrote:I'm not sure exactly how you're quantizing, but try going to Preferences... the "Processing" tab and finding your plugin under "T/C E" and changing the setting to piano. Or musical/voice instead of percussion.

I'm trying to play a piano part to a drum track. I'm using a MIDI track and recording to two (left and right) tracks of Kurzweil grand piano.skatingbasser wrote:tgraf wrote:Thanks for the help. Then let me ask, exactly how and what are you quantizing?

I'm quantizing the MIDI track and having it play a plug-in on an audio track. When I do that with my drum machine, everything works fine. It's when I play the piano using MIDI that it doesn't work.skatingbasser wrote:tgraf wrote:I'm trying to play a piano part to a drum track. Sorry but I still don't understand completely. So you are quantizing audio or MIDI? How? With a plug-in? What steps are you doing currently?
