i got a 50 watt marshall jmp that cant keep up with the other guitarist's 100 watt bassman head. i was wondering if anyone had modded a jmp for 100 watts, or if anyone can offer me any help regarding piggybacking or something like that.
i have a crappy, 80 watt-ish solid state bass head with a preamp-out poweramp-in. i was thinking i could use that to get a little more power, but i dont want to fuck anything up.
i could run them stereo linked from the extra input jack on the marshall, but would that make it any louder, or just more distorted?
any advice?

4Celestions are pretty efficient... but I would still recommend trying some new speakers. sometimes if you mix and match a few types you can get a sound that will cut better.
Remember, adding 50 watts to your rig will only give you a gain of 3dB.
you problem probably lies elsewhere...

5you can do a mod to add a preamp output to the jmp. most tech's can do this for under $100.
then run that output to the power-amp in on the SS amp. then run each amp's speaker outputs to a different cabinet.
modding a 50 watt jmp for 100 watt output just isn't practical. you'd be better off trading it for another amp.

6Are you sure your amp is working properly? A 50-watt JMP in good shape should be able to keep up with a Bassman 100.
If the amp's ok, then I'd just tell him to turn down a little. Seriously.
