So there seems to be a glut of theseGretsch G3140 slimline hollowbody guitars on the market for what seems to be a steal, and I'm curious. Allegedly Gretsch was bought out and they have this massive overstock of discontinued models which are selling for around $500 though they originally listed for $1500.
I am intrigued... these guitars look nice, I am looking for a new guitar, and I am on a budget. I really like hollowbody/archtop guitars, though I'm not sure this would really fit the archtop category per se.
At worst, it could be a bunk lemon that was discontinued for a reason.
So please help if you can. If you know that these guitars are bunk lemons, please let me know. If you have reason to believe otherwise, please let me know as well.

2If it is made in Japan, chances are it is a quality piece. I don't know a whole lot about Gretschs, but I know the good ones are made in Japan. Gretsch was bought out by Fender a couple of years ago. It is a "historic series", so maybe Fender (being the cheap-asses they are) took the line out. Just make sue it's not a second. Looks like a good guitar.

3What's the deal with the "God Bless America" crap that sellers plaster all over their eBay postings? I'd take a pass on it just for that reason.
Looks like a good bargain, though.
