sounds good. seems well written. seems well recorded. seems well played. vocals remind me quite a bit of travis morrison's new direction, but i wouldn't bring that up if i were y'all. the vocals may remind me a little of travis, but they're way, way better. just in a kinda similar vein. i definitely hear the ok-computer-era radiohead influence, especially in the guitar tone. everything is really good. i'm not really feeling all pumped up about it, cause it's kinda low-key from what i've heard here. but it definitely seems like an actual album version of it would make a nice soundtrack for a cup of hot cocoa on the couch, looking out the window watching it snow. which is always a good sign.
if 90 day men is still together, you should try and get on a bill with them.
cheers!

22thanks guys. but 'toomanyhelicopters,' what do you mean by pretty low key? do you mean the music is more chill, or just not really up to par with the other bands you have heard on here? just curious, i enjoy hearing feedback.

23Well, I listened to most of it, and it's pretty good. It's recorded well, i like all the textures and it never gets obvious. A lot of the guitar playing is quite good and overall the whole band sounds good . . . . . . . . . I would pay $7 for it right now if i could get a version without the vocals. They don't add a thing to the music, takes the eye off the ball, and the guy sounds like david grubbs trying to cover bright eyes tunes.

24yeah, low-key meaning mellow. laid-back. as far as quality, you guys are really solid. don't believe anyone who tells you otherwise. you don't need to be worried about whether or not you're good enough, at all, or what people's opinion is. you guys are better than the overwhelming majority of stuff out there. you're certainly good enough that you should have total faith and confidence in yourselves.
the only thing i would take seriously if i was you would be someone saying "it's not my cup of tea", which is a totally valid viewpoint. but if anybody says it's not *good*, they've either got unrealistically high standards, or they're just a jackass.
i've been listening to the various songs, some of them on repeat several times, for a while now. i like it more and more the more i listen. it's laid-back, for sure. but really good.
you could also mention MBV in there. i see them as more of an influence than trail of dead, though i admittedly don't really know a lot about that band. the way i picture trail of dead is based mostly on their performance on kilbourn one time... so i only hear trail of dead in the very last track. but i hear some MBV in the guitars here and there.
and i definitely heard a little more radiohead in the vocals on a couple of the tracks that i hadn't heard last time i posted. there's certainly a couple spots that have a yorke-esque vocal timbre, if only breifly.
it's really good stuff. the more i've listened, the more i've liked it. there's really nothing bad i would say about it.

25thanks for your input capnwrench. i'm the singer. i've never ever heard that comparison before with the vocals, i'm sorry you don't like them. if i could get you an instrumental copy i would. so do you just think the vocals are boring or just lousy?

Thye are not lousy. They just don't add anything. But, I probably would like radiohead more if they were an instrumental band. I probably would like a lot of bands more if they were instrumental. For me, the vocals really have to add something, they have to feel necessary to me, especailly in more complex/dynamic music such as yours. I agree with Mr. Helicopters when he said
"you guys are better than the overwhelming majority of stuff out there. you're certainly good enough that you should have total faith and confidence in yourselves."

27a little derivitive but not bad. I've definitely heard worse. purevolume and myspace are great places to start.
